RESEARCH AND CONSERVATION FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES IN OUR BACKYARD

The Birds of Iguaçu Project is a project for the conservation of birds developed and funded by Parque das Aves. It began in 2017 and is developed at the Iguaçú National Park, the most important Conservation Unit of the inland Atlantic Rainforest.

With monthly expeditions into the National Park, the Project’s objective is to determine which of the 44 birds threatened with extinction or hunted can be currently found in the Park, before performing a possible assessment of its population status and characterization of their environments of occurrence.

In addition, the researchers take the opportunity to do a survey of the birds found at the Iguaçú National Park in order to supplement the list of species available for the Conservation Unit.
