Accessibility and Inclusion at Parque das Aves
Parque das Aves, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), works continuously to promote accessibility and inclusion, ensuring that visitors and staff have a safe, welcoming experience integrated with the mission of Atlantic Forest conservation.
This commitment is led by the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee, composed of staff members from different areas and specialties of the Park, responsible for analyzing, proposing, and monitoring actions aimed at eliminating physical, communicational, attitudinal, technological, and pedagogical barriers.
Accessibility Infrastructure for Visitors
Parque das Aves offers resources designed to expand access for people with reduced mobility, disabilities, or specific needs during their visit:
– Free wheelchairs for visitors with mobility difficulties
– Benches distributed along the trail for rest and contemplation
– Drinking fountains with free chilled water
– Accessible restrooms and changing tables in strategic areas
These facilities contribute to a more comfortable, safe, and autonomous visit, reinforcing the Park’s commitment to accessible and inclusive tourism.
Ongoing DEIA Committee Actions
The DEIA Committee works permanently to improve accessibility and inclusion practices at Parque das Aves. The goal is to expand solutions that promote equal access, well-being, and full participation of visitors and staff, respecting different realities and needs.
Inclusion in the Workplace
Parque das Aves maintains inclusive and ongoing recruitment processes for people with disabilities. The stages are conducted in an integrated manner between the DEIA Committee, Human Resources, and area leaders, considering:
– Candidate’s professional profile
– Requirements of available positions
– Conditions of physical spaces
– Day-to-day activities
The integration of new staff members is planned to ensure welcoming, team orientation, and the creation of a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
The Park recognizes that not all disabilities are visible and respects each person’s individuality. Identification is optional and the decision about its use rests exclusively with the staff member.
Social Inclusion and Community Access
In addition to internal actions, Parque das Aves develops initiatives focused on social inclusion, local community access, and strengthening environmental education through educational programs, institutional partnerships, and benefit policies.
Promoting accessibility and inclusion is part of Parque das Aves’ commitment to the Atlantic Forest, to people, and to building more responsible, humane tourism connected with conservation.
